Estonia lies along the Baltic Sea, just below Finland. Tallinn, with its medieval city centre, is Estonia's capital and is only about 40 miles south of Helsinki. Travellers departing from Tallinn's international airport can be in, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Riga, Moscow, or St. Petersburg in less than two hours. There are no distant places in Estonia –It takes just 4 or 5 hours to travel from one end of the country to another. In spite of this, there are a large variety of landscapes, flora, seasons, weather and moods within the country. The charming town of Parnu is a popular vacation destination on the southwestern coast, where summer air and water temperatures can reach those of the Mediterranean region. Estonia is the home of several mammals as well as plant species that are extinct or very rare in other parts of Europe. The most numerous of the large mammals are the roe deer, elk, and wild boar. Beaver, lynx, wolf, brown bear, grey seal, and ringed seal are relatively common as well.
